25 Years Behind the Lens: Why Photography is a Dialogue, Not a Monologue
When people ask me what I do, the easy answer is "Photographer" or "Visual Designer." But after two and a half decades of capturing faces, stages, and brands in Vienna and beyond, I’ve realized that my real job is something much more subtle.
I am a facilitator of connection.
Whether I am working on a massive LED installation for a musical at Das Vindobona or a quiet, one-on-one portrait session in my studio, my philosophy remains the same: Great visuals are never a monologue; they are a dialogue.

The "Safe Space" Behind the Camera
I’ve mentioned this before, but it bears repeating: almost everyone starts a session by telling me they aren’t photogenic. I see this as a challenge of empathy, not just lighting.
Over the last 25 years, I’ve learned that the most beautiful "pose" is simply the moment a person feels safe enough to stop performing. My goal is to create an environment where you can drop the "corporate mask" or the stage persona and just be. When you are comfortable, the camera captures your essence, not just your features.

A Designer’s Eye, A Photographer’s Heart
My background in Visual Design heavily influences how I look through the viewfinder. I don’t just see a person; I see geometry, color harmony, and light.
When I’m shooting a dancer in mid-air or designing a brand identity for a commercial client, I am constantly balancing technical precision with emotional resonance. My 25 years of experience allow me to handle the technical side (the "how") instinctively, so I can focus entirely on the "why"—the story we are trying to tell.

Why "Honesty" is the New Luxury
We live in an era of filters and AI-generated perfection. While I embrace technology and use the latest tools to enhance my work, I believe that authenticity is becoming the ultimate luxury.
A portrait that shows a hint of a real laugh, or a commercial video that captures the genuine passion of a founder, will always outperform a "perfect" but soul-less image. My mission is to find that honest spark in everything I create.

The Journey Continues
From the theater stages of Vienna to the intimate setting of a portrait session, I am still just as excited today as I was when I first started. Every client brings a new story, a new set of challenges, and a new opportunity to create something that hasn't been seen before.
Photography and design have allowed me to see the world from a thousand different perspectives. I’d love to see it from yours next.
